Three things noticed during Man United training ahead of Everton clash
Manchester United released training images ahead of their Premier League clash against Everton on the weekend.
The Reds have returned from the international break and will face a tough test at Goodison Park following the 10-point deduction The Toffees received last week.
After winning four of their last five Premier League fixtures, Erik ten Hag’s side will be keen to continue that positive form but also improve their performances on the pitch.
Ahead of the clash, United have provided images of the squad hard at work at Carrington and three things stood out.
Luke Shaw is back
The big news of the week is that Luke Shaw has returned to training and the left-back was spotted in various images and videos ahead of the game.
It is likely that he will return to the lineup against Everton but Ten Hag has a choice to make on where the defender plays.
He could start in his more comfortable left-back role and potentially provide Marcus Rashford support on the flank. Although he could also be utilised in the left centre-back role as he was at times last season.
Lisandro Martinez watching on
Lisandro Martinez also was spotted doing some individual training as he continues his recovery from injury. The defender was seen watching on his United teammates as they trained.
The Argentine has been unavailable since United’s 4-3 loss against Bayern Munich and is not expected to return until the new year.
His eventual return will be a big boost to Ten Hag and the team after Martinez was one of the best players during his debut campaign at Old Trafford.
16-year-old trio involved
Ten Hag often brings youngsters into the squad for training at Carrington to keep a close eye on their development. This week, three 16-year-olds were involved in the sessions with the first-team.
Darren Fletcher’s twin sons, Jack and Tyler, were both involved after joining United from Manchester City in the summer.
Highly-rated teenager Jayce Fitzgerald also took part in the latest training sessions.
