It appears that three transfer destinations for Mason Greenwood have been ruled out after Manchester United discussions.

Greenwood, 22, is expected to depart United this summer after spending the 2023/24 campaign on loan at Spanish club Getafe.

Reports have stated that the club are looking for around £40 million for the forward, who scored eight goals in La Liga last term.

Various clubs from different leagues have been linked with Greenwood. There is particular interest from Italy, with the likes of Lazio, Juventus and Napoli interested in the signing.

However, the latest information from Matteo Moretto has explained that a Serie A move is ‘very difficult’ for Greenwood and seems a hugely unlikely conclusion to this transfer situation.

“A lot of rumours have come out linking Mason Greenwood with a move to Italy, but the reality is that he is no closer to a move there than anywhere else,” he explained on Fabrizio Romano’s Daily Briefing.

“It is true that clubs like Lazio or Juventus have enquired about him – but just to gather information on the potential conditions of a deal, salary, price and so on.

Lazio spoke with Manchester United about commissions, conditions and the like, but that’s where it ended.

“Currently my information is that it is very difficult for Greenwood to end up in Italy next season – I see him going elsewhere.”

Prior reports have suggested that Greenwood would prefer to remain in Spain, but Getafe are unable to fund a permanent transfer for the 22-year-old.

Marseille have also been credited with interest and have reportedly discussed a potential deal with United in recent weeks.
