Three Erik ten Hag replacements outlined as Man United ‘admire’ shock Premier League manager
INEOS are looking at potential replacements at Manchester United for Erik ten Hag if they decide to sack the Dutch manager at the end of the season.
Ten Hag has had a difficult second season in charge at United, and there are doubts that he will be the man to lead the team under INEOS next season.
According to ESPN, Roberto De Zerbi, Gareth Southgate, and Thomas Frank are three managers that are of interest to INEOS – although it was added that other managers are also being considered.
The report explained that INEOS is determined to avoid being unprepared if they do end up sacking Ten Hag. Liverpool, Bayern Munich, and Barcelona are all currently looking for a manager for the summer.
De Zerbi has been well-linked to the United project, as well as former Brighton boss Graham Potter.
However, the aforementioned report explained that one source stressed that “everyone is looking at De Zerbi.” It also mentioned that Thomas Franks’s success at building a high-energy team at Brentford while embracing their data-led approach to recruitment has earned him admirers at Old Trafford.
Southgate is currently the manager of England but his future beyond Euro 2024 is unknown. It was added that he is still undecided about his future and is considered an “outsider” for the role at United.
The Three Lions boss does have a long-standing relationship with prospective sporting director Dan Ashworth and has also previously worked closely with Sir Dave Brailsford.
Ten Hag could still be the man to lead United forward, but his future is likely dependent on large improvements from now until the end of the season.
