Thomas Frank and Spurs becoming ‘more serious’ in pursuit of Alejandro Garnacho due to one key reason

Tottenham Hotspur’s pursuit of a £40 million-rated Manchester United star has become ‘more serious’ due to the players’ price tag being slashed.

Manchester United have been desperately trying to better their squad ahead of the new Premier League campaign as they look to improve on last season’s dismal 15th-placed finish.

Ruben Amorim has been vocal about United’s squad not being good enough to compete, and has made it clear that he needs financial backing from the owners if he is to bolster his side.

So far, the Reds have brought in two attacking talents in Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo, but now they lie in a position where they need to sell players if they are to acquire further reinforcements.

One of last season’s key dilemmas was United’s winger conundrum, which resulted in all of Marcus Rashford MBE, Antony, and Jadon Sancho being sent on loan, whilst Alejandro Garnacho fell out of favour at the club.

All four of these wingers are likely to depart the Reds this summer. Only Rashford has proved successful so far, and now it is Garnacho’s sale that has seen developments.

Tottenham ‘showing more intent’ for Garnacho

According to reports from GiveMeSport, Tottenham Hotspur are becoming increasingly tempted by the Argentinian winger, mainly due to his lowered price tag, and could continue their spending spree.

The report states that Spurs are “showing more intent in their pursuit of Alejandro Garnacho and are tempted to head to Manchester United with a formal offer.”

It continues by saying that, “Tottenham are becoming more serious in their push to sign Garnacho”, which will be music to the ears of Amorim, who is keen to offload his want-away winger.

The 21-year-old’s price tag has fallen drastically since January, with his newest price tag being slashed to only £40 million, as United look to acquire more financial resources.

What this means for United

If the Red Devils are to finally get Garnacho off their hands for a decent fee, it could open up the possibility of further reinforcements in Amorim’s squad.

As of now, United have only strengthened their front line, and are still in pursuit of a new striker. This could be a problem as they could do with some additional depth in the midfield, as well as a new goalkeeper.

Amorim made it clear after their 0-0 draw with Leeds United at the weekend that his side could do with some more help in the middle of the park, and an injury to Andre Onana only increases the need for a new shot stopper.

Hopefully for United, they are able to secure a decent fee soon for Garnacho, as this could majorly benefit them in their pursuit of a squad overhaul.
