“The only possibility…” Fabrizio Romano provides interesting update on Rasmus Højlund’s Man Utd future

Fabrizio Romano has provided an informative update on Rasmus Højlund’s future, with Manchester United looking to make a decision on the striker.

With it being widely reported that Manchester United are in the midst of a sizeable summer overhaul, many current Red Devils’ futures are up in the air.

Despite reinforcements being needed all over the park, the main area of concern was the attacking department, which was seemingly in desperate need of a renovation.

Having already signed Matheus Cunha from Wolves, and closing in on the signature of Brentford’s Bryan Mbeumo, United are now just a striker away from a completely fresh front three.

This being said, it begs the question as to what the future holds for Rasmus Højlund. The Danish international has had his fair share of struggles since moving to Manchester two years ago, and could be set for a summer departure.

Romano update on Højlund future

Transfer insider Fabrizio Romano has provided us with the latest updates regarding the Dane’s future, stating that Højlund isn’t pushing to leave United.

Romano said, “Højlund is not pushing to leave Man United. Højlund would love to stay at Man United, would love to continue at Man United, would love to do his best for Man United again in a new season.

“So, Højlund would really hope and love to stay at Manchester United. The only possibility for Højlund to go is if Manchester United decide to let him go, to sell him, to make profit with him, and all these kind of things.

“If Man United decide for him to go, Højlund has to go. Otherwise, if it’s for Højlund, I’m hearing that the player would be keen on staying at Manchester United and would love to stay at Manchester United.”

Where could Højlund go?

Despite having almost secured both Cunha and Mbeumo, United aren’t done and will almost definitely bring in a new striker in the coming months to replace their misfiring Dane.

Although it seems Højlund is content to stay in Manchester and fight for his place, he has had multiple reported suitors, with his main interest coming from UEFA Champions League finalists, Inter Milan.

As Amorim’s side missed out on European football for next season, they will typically be playing only once a week, meaning that if they sign a new striker, game time could be hard to come by if the 22-year-old stays put at United.

Many United attackers will be set for a couple of months filled with uncertainty as they look to figure out their futures, and Højlund will be no exception.
