Erik ten Hag makes fun of Roy Keane following Man United’s FA Cup win
Erik ten Hag has shown his lighter side following Manchester United’s FA Cup win over Manchester City on Saturday afternoon, poking fun at Roy Keane.
Manchester United delivered their best performance of the season, with Erik ten Hag‘s team defeating Manchester City in the FA Cup final.
Goals from Alejandro Garnacho and Player of the Match Kobbie Mainoo in the first half gave United a decisive lead over Pep Guardiola’s Premier League champions.

Despite Jeremy Doku’s goal for City, they couldn’t match United’s tactical discipline and ultimately fell short. Ten Hag’s squad was clearly the better team and deserved their victory.
Speaking after the game, Roy Keane and Ten Hag had a moment of fun where Keane tried to ask Ten Hag how proud he is of his players.
“You must be proud of them, we’ve always questioned players about their quality at Man United, but character and leadership,” Keane started. “They showed character today – which I had questioned, and a lot of people have…you shouldn’t listen to them pundits anyway! Take no notice of the pundits.”
Ten Hag then replied: “But you told me!” to which Keane rebuttled: No, them two! [Pointing at Joleon Lescott and Ian Wright].”
The Dutch manager then decided to joke with Keane about his own managerial achievements, saying: “You had trouble to manage a team!”
Keane then replied: “Ah, I won a Championship with Sunderland…give me some praise, ah come on! You’re too harsh on me!”
Overall, Ten Hag was very happy with his team’s performance, as they lifted their second trophy in two seasons.
“All compliments to the team. We played very good to our identity. Very strong,” he told the BBC. “You have seen how we can play when we have the players on board. Some were not even match fit, but the performance was very good.
“I tell you [media] this all year – when the players are fit, we can play good football. A very good performance against the best team in the world.
“With a local rivalry, it’s there, and it’s much more important when you play a team from your own city. But for us it wasn’t about this, it was to prove a point after so many setbacks. The team showed so much resilience, and I’m proud of them.”
