Manchester United are set to hold transfer talks on Wednesday with La Liga club Sevilla over a loan move for Hannibal Mejbri.

Hannibal Mejbri‘s future has been a topic of debate surrounding Manchester United in the last few weeks, with the player having stayed behind instead of attending AFCON in order to clarify his future.

Mejbri started the campaign well under Erik ten Hag, performing admirably against the likes of Burnley, Brighton, and Crystal Palace, but has since lost his place due to the emergence of Kobbie Mainoo.

The 20-year-old midfielder is in need of consistent game time if he is to continue developing and is set to depart in the January transfer window once Mason Mount and Casemiro return from injury.

He has been linked heavily with Everton, but in the latest round of reports, United are now set to talk with Sevilla on Wednesday (today) as they deal with the La Liga club hijacking the move.

This is according to FootballInsider, who claim that Sevilla are now in “pole position” for the young Tunisian.

United want Sevilla to cover his wages in full over the course of the loan as well as receive a loan fee of over £1 million. The player currently earns £13,000 a week.

Mejbri remains part of United’s long-term plans after the club signed him for just over £4 million, rising to £8.5 million with add-ons, from Monaco in 2019.
