Isak Hansen-Aaroen’s personal trainer was ‘disappointed’ that Erik ten Hag left him out of the FA Cup side that won against Wigan Athletic on the weekend.

Hansen-Aaoren was among the players to be training with the United first-team squad ahead of the game but was not included in the matchday squad, which had six academy players on the bench.

In fact, Ten Hag opted to have two goalkeepers, Altay Bayindir and Tom Heaton, over the talented Norweigan who joined the club in 2020. He has still not made his debut.

Whilst the club hopes to sign him up on a new four-and-a-half year deal, the playmaker is unsure on whether to continue at Old Trafford with various clubs eager for his signature.

Hansen-Aaroen worked closely with Jonas Johansen at their former club, Tromsø IL, and Johansen is now the 18-year-old’s personal trainer when he returns to Norway.

Johansen has expressed his own frustration at the player being left out of the first-team squad in the FA Cup and recommended Hansen-Aaroen to move on to pastures new in search of first-team opportunities.

“It was a bit disappointing. As they have several players out, I thought he would be an offensive option. It was very surprising,” Johansen explained, as quoted by Sports Witness.

“Isak has many international skills that not many others have. With those qualities and achievements in the U21 team, he should be in a first-team squad.

“My recommendation to him is that he finds a new club, where he’ll have the opportunity to fight for playing time in the first team.

“He is at the age where he should play regularly for the first team. I expect a change of club, but whether it will be now or this summer, we will see.”
