Roy Keane was fuming Rasmus Højlund after the striker missed multiple chances during Manchester United’s 2-0 win over Wigan Athletic in the FA Cup.

Manchester United secured themselves a place in the FA Cup fourth round as Diogo Dalot and Bruno Fernandes scored during Erik ten Hag‘s first game of 2024.

Despite the two goals, United should have had a much more comfortable scoreline, with both Rasmus Højlund and Scott McTominay squandering multiple chances in the first half.

Højlund, 20, who signed for United for a little over £70 million in the summer, left United legendary midfielder Roy Keane ‘fuming’ after the game due to these squandered efforts.

“I would be fuming with him,” Keane told ITV after analysing Højlund’s missed chances.

“We wanted United to show a part of their game tonight and they have in terms of missing chances and not being clinical – I want to see that side of United tonight. When your striker is missing chances, we can say unlucky all day, they are great opportunities.

“Put the ball in the back of the net and stop messing around!”

Rasmus Højlund is the club’s joint top scorer this season with six goals but has just one in the Premier League in 15 appearances so far in the competition. United welcome Tottenham Hotspur to Old Trafford in the league on Sunday.
