Diogo Dalot has revealed the thoughts of the Manchester United dressing room to the news of Sir Jim Ratcliffe purchasing a 25 per cent stake in the club.

United announced the deal on Christmas Eve and are now awaiting Premier League approval, which is expected to take four to six weeks before Sir Jim Ratcliffe and his Ineos team can come into the building.

The Ineos chief will have full footballing control over the club and is set to make several big changes in the hierarchy, including the addition of a new sporting director.

Following a long wait and uncertain period after the Glazers announced their intentions to explore ‘strategic alternatives’ in November 2022, Diogo Dalot hopes that the deal will bring ‘positive energy’ to the club.

“We all want the best for the club. Hopefully, this brings positive energy and feelings to everyone in the club, and hopefully, we can win altogether,” Dalot told Amazon Prime when asked about the thoughts of the dressing room on the news.

“We are all happy that things are moving, but we all just want to win games because that’s what really matters, what happens on the pitch.”

Erik ten Hag’s side have found difficulties on and off the pitch this season. They sit eighth in the Premier League table and have been knocked out of European football.

Dalot spoke ahead of their Old Trafford clash against third-place Aston Villa, who are favourites going into the game amid United’s dire record against the top nine Premier League teams.

“It’s big challenges for us, we want to have those challenges and play the big games,” the defender added. “We’ve shown that against top teams we can play well and dominate and today’s one more chance for us.

“We’re playing at Old Trafford, and we have to use our fans to stay with us and dominate the aspects on the pitch. But we’re going to face a difficult opponent, but we have everything to win, so we have to be ready.”
