Sporting release FULL statement as Manchester United agree €10m fee for Ruben Amorim
Sporting CP confirmed in a club statement that Manchester United has informed them of their intention to pay the €10 million release clause for Ruben Amorim.
Manchester United are set to make Ruben Amorim their next Head Coach after parting ways with Erik ten Hag.
The Dutchman’s exit followed United’s 2-1 Premier League defeat to West Ham, where a disputed penalty, converted by Jarrad Bowen, tipped the scales.

On Monday morning, United confirmed Ten Hag’s departure, and by evening, reports identified Sporting CP’s Amorim as their prime candidate, with terms reportedly agreed.
As the Reds prepare for matches against Leicester City and Chelsea this week, former striker Ruud van Nistelrooy will step in as interim manager.
Sporting’s statement
In a fresh statement, Sporting have now confirmed that United have notified them of their intention to pay the €10 million (£8.3 million) release clause in Amorim’s current contract.
“Manchester United has expressed an interest in hiring coach Rúben Amorim,” their press statement read, translated from Portugese.
“With the Board of Directors of Sporting SAD referring to the terms and conditions set out in the employment contract in force between the Company and the coach.
“Specifically the respective termination clause and the amount of Euro 10,000,000.00; Manchester United has expressed an interest in paying Sporting SAD the amount of the aforementioned clause.”
Amorim is expected to conduct Sporting’s fixture against Nacional in the Taca da Liga quarter-final, but United hope he will be in the Old Trafford dugout for this weekend’s fixture against Chelsea.
