Sources: Man United ‘definitely’ open to Antony summer exit but not yet exploring deal
Manchester United winger Antony could leave the club in the summer window if an appropriate offer comes in, UtdDistrict understands.
Antony, 23, has played 22 games for United this season and is yet to register a goal or assist as part of the club’s underperforming frontline.
Erik ten Hag has often defended the Brazilian wide player in press conferences and interviews, explaining that off-field issues have played a part in the poor form of the player.
Antony was accused of assault by an ex-girlfriend and returned to Brazil in September to focus on the case, which he strenuously denied, before returning to England in October.
The right-winger’s troubles on the pitch have continued, though, and there have been calls for Amad Diallo to start games now he has returned from a long-term knee injury.
A well-placed source has told UtdDistrict that the club are ‘definitely’ open to selling Antony for the ‘right price’ in the upcoming summer window.
However, others close to the situation have stated that there has been no indication that United are currently exploring a potential transfer for the player ahead of the summer.
This all follows on from reports in The Standard, which stated that both Antony and Borussia Dortmund loanee Jadon Sancho have been offered to clubs in Suadi Arabia for around £50 million each.
United originally signed Antony from Ajax for a fee of £86 million in the 2022 summer transfer window. He worked alongside Ten Hag at the Dutch club before the manager moved across to Manchester.
However, a recent deep dive from Laurie Whitwell of The Athletic has explained that during Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s reign at Old Trafford, club scouts had valued the Brazilian winger at £25 million.
Antony has scored eight goals and registered three assists in 66 appearances for United.
