Sources: Antony unhappy with Man Utd game-time & set for talks with club chiefs
Antony is unhappy with his game-time at Manchester United this season, with the winger yet to start a Premier League game.
Manchester United are entering a busy period of the season with new head coach Ruben Amorim starting his role at the club.
So far this season, Alejandro Garnacho has been the main contributor in terms of goals and assists while Amad Diallo looks extremely bright in what appears to be his breakthrough campaign.
Marcus Rashford has had ups and downs but has managed to create the second-most big chances of any United player so far this term.
Antony has had minimal game-time in his third season at the club and has fallen behind Amad in the pecking order at right-wing.
UtdDistrict understands that Antony is not currently happy with his situation at Old Trafford and wants to hold talks with the club to understand his role going forward.
While the Brazilian remains dedicated to the team, he is not content with his current game-time and will look for an exit if the situation does not change.
Reports elsewhere have claimed that United are open to selling or loaning the 24-year-old during the January transfer window, with his former club Ajax among the clubs linked.
Antony has made just five appearances so far this season, with just one of those coming as a starter in the team. He has played 27 minutes in the Premier League.
He was signed by Erik ten Hag for £85 million in the summer of 2022 and was a regular starter under the Dutchman until the start of this season.
Some have wondered whether the wide-player could be reinvented as a wingback in Ruben Amorim’s 3-4-3 formation due to Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia’s fitness concerns.
The new head coach will have time to assess his squad options in the coming weeks, and it seems that Antony’s future will be a topic of discussion for the head coach and footballing department.
