Fabrizio Romano has revealed Ruben Amorim’s first request to Manchester United’s sporting director Dan Ashworth.

Ruben Amorim arrived at Manchester United on Monday afternoon to start his new role as head coach at Old Trafford.

He was greeted at the Carrington training complex by Omar Berrada, Jason Wilcox and Dan Ashworth, who are all in charge of the footballing operations at the club.

Amorim’s first game comes in two weeks’ time against Ipswich Town in the Premier League, which gives him some important time to prepare behind the scenes.

However, the 39-year-old will also be keeping half an eye on how he can improve this current playing squad and he has already sent a message to Ashworth and the transfer chiefs.

Fabrizio Romano has revealed that the new head coach has indicated to the decision makers at Old Trafford that he needs them to sign players with the right intensity levels.

“What I can tell you, on the market is that from what I’m hearing is the first indication from Ruben Amorim to Manchester United directors and management is that we need to bring players with intensity,” Romano said in his latest YouTube video.

“These were the crucial words he mentioned in the opening talks and meetings with Manchester United and they are going in that direction.”

Amorim’s 3-4-3 system at Sporting looked exciting and effective but United’s squad will need to adapt and improve in order to get to that level.

The intensity levels were off the charts during the 4-1 win over Manchester City in the Champions League and it is no surprise that Amorim is focused on this.
