Sofyan Amrabat’s Manchester United availability vs Arsenal explained
Sofyan Amrabat has signed for Manchester United on a one-year loan for a fee of £8.5 million, with an option to sign permanently.
This option is said to be for around £17 million and must be triggered in June 2024, before his one-year deal with Manchester United runs out.
Erik ten Hag has been an admirer of Sofyan Amrabat for a long time and has recruited him to add depth and competition to his midfield.

Amrabat is signed for the club on deadline day, and there have been questions surrounding whether he has been registered in time to face Arsenal.
United’s other three deadline-day signings, Altay Bayındır, Sergio Reguilón, and Jonny Evans, were all registered in time to be included in the squad to face Arsenal – and the fixture could represent a debut for Reguilón, who would replace the injured Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia.
Amrabat, unfortunately for Ten Hag, was not registered in time to face Arsenal as the cut-off time for registration was midday on Friday – meaning Ten Hag will not be able to select the Moroccan at the Emirates on Sunday afternoon.
In order to play in a fixture in England, players have to be registered to the club by midday on the final working day before said fixture, which in this case was Friday 1 September – hence why Bayındır, Reguilón, and Evans are all able to play, while Amrabat will not be.
Sunday does represent the chance for Rasmus Højlund to make his debut for The Reds after his £65 million move from Atalanta.
“He had a good training week, so tomorrow we have final training but he’s doing well, he’s responded well,” Ten Hag said of the striker on Friday afternoon. “So he will be available for Sunday’s game.”
