Sheikh Jassim expresses ‘confidence’ ahead of Manchester United takeover decision
Sheikh Jassim and his team have expressed their confidence of victory in purchasing Manchester United from the Glazer family following a lengthy saga.
The American family in charge at Old Trafford communicated their intention to “explore strategic alternatives”, including a potential takeover, at the club back in November last year.
Since then, Sheikh Jassim and British billionaire Sir Jim Ratcliffe have emerged as frontrunners for the football club and have battled each other for several months with nine overall bids being placed.
Following silence on takeover developments in recent days, a major story broke on Wednesday afternoon which suggests that a decision is close to being announced.
Bloomberg, one of largest business-focused media organisations in the world, stated that the Qatari group led by Sheikh Jassim is increasingly confident that they have won the bidding war for Manchester United.
It was their latest bid, which came at the beginning of the month, which has seemed to turn the tide in the Qatari’s favour.

The aforementioned report added that those within the inner circle of the Qatari bid have begun communicating their confidence of victory in buying the English club and believe that it is now “a matter of time” before an official announcement is made.
United fans have been protesting against the Glazer family since they took over the club in 2005 through a highly leveraged takeover, which has finally been banned through new Premier League rules this year.
The latest protest saw United supporters stationed in front of the Old Trafford megastore on Tuesday morning. The club’s brand new 2023/24 home shirt was unveiled at 9am with the store opening an hour later – however, the protests forced the store to close their doors minutes after 10am.
