Sekou Kone sends message to Man United fan, how you can follow potential debut
Sekou Kone has sent a message to one Manchester United fan who gifted him a present while his potential debut for the youth team could be approaching.
Kone, 18, joined Manchester United this summer for a reported £1 million fee from Guidars FC.
The highly talented midfielder would have been completely unknown to over 90 per cent of the United fanbase. He excelled at the U17s World Cup last year and has been on the club’s radar.
Interim director of recruitment Christopher Vivell had a key part to play in the transfer. He comes from the Red Bull clubs, where moves like this are the norm.
Kone sends message to United fan
Kone has been settling into his new life in Manchester in recent weeks. Reports have claimed that the club have helped him behind the scenes by helping him meet his youth teammates and build relationships.
He was spotted at Old Trafford on Tuesday evening during United’s 7-0 win over Barnsley, uploading a picture alongside fellow United youngster Sekou Kaba on his social media platforms.
The fans are also appearing to try to make Kone feel at home, with one young supporter gifting the player his own personalised shinpads.
The boy made the shinpads with images of Kone with his U17s World Cup third-place medal and the teenager posing with his Manchester United shirt after signing for the club.
Kone reposted an image of the shinpads he received on Instagram and captioned the post, “Thank you Jacob,” with a praying and heart-faced emoji.
How to watch Sekou Kone’s potential debut
Kone’s physical levels are unknown, and he may need extra time to get up to full speed before making his first appearance for United’s youth team.
However, should he be available to come into the Under-21s, his debut could come this Saturday against Manchester City’s U21 side.
Unfortunately, the game will not be broadcast live to MUTV viewers due to Premier League restrictions. The 12:00 BST kick-off will clash with the early game between West Ham and Chelsea.
However, the UtdDistrict X account will provide live updates of the clash, and highlights will also be uploaded to the Manchester United website after the game.
Whether or not he is involved this weekend, Kone will be eager to start playing for his new team.
