Scott McTominay has released an injury update after he was forced off during Manchester United’s 1-1 draw with Burnley on Saturday.

The United midfielder was subbed on during the Old Trafford encounter but had to be later replaced by Mason Mount following an issue with his knee.

McTominay was forced to come off earlier this month against Chelsea for a similar issue, and he was visibly frustrated when he withdrew against Burnley.

It appeared to be a serious problem, which would be typical for United this season; however, McTominay has provided a positive update on the injury.

“I slipped and fell awkward on my knee similar to against Chelsea. Nothing serious just hyperextension but I was angry and upset that I thought it was worse than it was,” McTominay wrote on Instagram.

“Hoping to be back on the pitch very soon to help the team as much as I can.”

The midfielder has scored 10 goals this season for United, with his latest coming in the FA Cup semi-final win over Coventry City.

However, almost no player seems safe this summer as INEOS plan a major overhaul. According to reports, only young stars such as Kobbie Mainoo, Rasmus Højlund and Alejandro Garnacho are non-negotiables in terms of potential departures.

Of course, there are certain players that United will still be reluctant to sell in the summer window.

According to the BBC, the Reds will only consider selling Diogo Dalot, Bruno Fernandes or André Onana for ‘major’ offers.

All three have been some of the club’s best players during an underwhelming season this term. Onana only signed for the club last summer.

Meanwhile, Dalot signed a new long-term deal earlier this campaign and Fernandes is the club captain.
