“Save the name…” Manchester United “really considering” signing “brilliant” star, says Fabrizio Romano

Manchester United are turning their attention toward signing a new goalkeeper this summer following an injury to André Onana.

Manchester United are reportedly in the market for a new goalkeeper this summer as Rúben Amorim continues to reshape his squad ahead of his first full season at the club.

Although Amorim and André Onana are believed to have a solid working relationship, the goalkeeper’s future at Old Trafford remains uncertain.

Onana, 29, has shown flashes of the ability that earned him a move from Inter Milan, but inconsistency has raised questions about his long-term role in the team.

After committing £127.5 million to the signings of Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo, Amorim is now expected to turn his attention to reinforcing both the striker and goalkeeper positions.

With Onana sidelined for pre-season and potentially the start of the Premier League campaign due to a hamstring injury, and Altay Bayindir possibly departing, United are in urgent need of a new goalkeeper.

United seriously considering Lammens transfer

Reports from earlier this week suggested that United were ramping up their interest in 23-year-old Belgian goalkeeper Senne Lammens, with Royal Antwerp open to selling the “brilliant” star for around £17 million.

Speaking in his latest YouTube video, transfer expert Fabrizio Romaonn has now confrimed that Amorim’s club are “really considering” making a move for the player.

“Senne Lammens, save this name, playing for Antwerp, 23 years old. I’m told Manchester United have an interest in this player,” Romano explained. “He’s been scouted [and] monitored in the recent months; he’s a talented goalkeeper.

“Manchester United now have to decide internally what they want to do with the goalkeeper. Whether they want to bring a big, important goalkeeper, like Emi Martínez, or if they want to bring a young profile with the opportunity to grow behind Onana, to have his chances, to compete.

“Lammens is a name they are really considering at Manchester United.”

Lammens keen to sign for United

With Lammens’ futufure well known to lie away from Belgium, the goalkeeper has been open about where he would like to play next season.

The Belgian has previously explained that he wants to play in the Premier League and thinks he could be a fantastic fit in England, considering it a natural step to progress in his career.

Upon hearing about United’s interest back in February, Lammens admitted that he had conducted research into Amorim’s side, as he was curious to see where he could fit in.

It may be a more logical step for United to sign Lammens to provide genuine competition to Onana next season, rather than bring in another experinced goalkeeper to take the Cameroon international’s spot outright.
