“I know him…” Manchester United legend claims something ‘isn’t right’ with Ruud van Nistelrooy
Since his appointment under Erik ten Hag, Manchester United legend Dwight Yorke has claimed that something ‘isn’t right’ with Ruud van Nistelrooy.
Ruud van Niselrooy re-joined Manchester United as a coach earlier this year as part of a huge revamp of Erik ten Hag‘s staff at Old Trafford.
Van Nistelrooy was one of several coaches who joined the club’s backroom staff in the summer. Rene Hake and Andreas Georgson also joined to replace the departing Steve McClaren, Benni McCarthy, and Mitchell van der Gaag.

However, after United’s poor start to the season, where they’ve won just three of their opening ten games, and there are calls for Ten Hag to face the sack and Van Nistelrooy to take over as the interim manager.
Speaking recently, Dwight Yorke, who scored 66 goals in 152 appearances and won the treble in 1999, has explained that he finds it odd that Van Nistelrooy would take an assistant role after rising to prominence at PSV as a manager.
Although the pair never played together, Yorke bases his suspicions off their apparent close friendship.
“So the appointment of Ruud? Well, Ruud is a manager,” Yorke told The Mirror. “He was a manager, he wants to be a manager – and he’s had success. Ruud won a cup at PSV.
“When I saw he went to Manchester United, I thought ‘there’s something not right with that.’ I gave Ruud the benefit of the doubt because I know him.
“But when you have a name like Ruud in the background, there’s something not quite right. It’s like when Roy Keane was at Villa under Paul Lambert and Martin O’Neill. I won’t say ‘suspicious’, but there is something not right.
“I’m sure Ruud is professional, does his job. But you can’t help wondering if he would be in position to take over if Ten Hag goes. I feel like there is something in it. I find it a bit bizarre.
“I’d be interested to see if Ten Hag was sacked, will they give Ruud the interim job, or will he walk away from the job? That’s when I will really figure out what this is all about. Everyone loves United, so why would he turn it down?”
Van Nistelrooy has become a very popular figure at United during his short spell there, no doubt in part due to his reverence as one of the club’s deadliest strikers.
