Ruben Amorim’s ideal target now engaging in talks with new club after being left hanging by Manchester United

Manchester United’s transfer plans this summer have taken a significant shift following their loss against Tottenham in the Europa League final.

Manchester United are aiming to secure fresh striker talent this summer as they look to add a significant number of goals to their currently misfiring squad.

In the last few seasons, only Bruno Fernandes and Marcus Rashford have shown any form of consistency in front of goal, with the club captain netting 19 this season and Rashford netting 30 under Erik ten Hag across 2022/23.

However, with the English winger set to leave this summer and United also open to the sales of Alejandro Garnacho and Rasmus Højlund for around £100 million combined this summer, the club are in dire need of a series of attacking replacements.

It is thought that United are set to finalise the transfer of Matheus Cunha for £62.5 million later this month and are gunning to secure Liam Delap from Ipswich Town for £30 million while also aiming to add a third attacking player to their ranks this summer.

Osimhen set for talks with other clubs this summer

While Delap is a signing that the club see as a fantastic bargain buy of a future high-level striker talent, many fans also see the club needing to sign an experienced goalscorer who will be able to immediately raise the level of talent in the front line.

Many names have been touted for the club, with the two most common being Viktor Gyökeres and Victor Osimhen, who are both on the market for around £60 million this summer.

However, according to FootMercarto, although United remain interested in the latter, the Nigerian international is now starting to be frustrated with United’s lack of taking a concrete stance on his transfer and has entered into negotiations with a different club.

Osimhen would like his future resolved quickly, and so his representatives have now entered into talks with Saudi Pro League side Al-Hilal amid United’s lack of engagement, and talks are said to be heading in a positive direction.

United prefer signing Gyökeres over Osimhen this summer

One reason why United may be hesitant to enter into concrete talks with Osimhen is because, as per multiple fresh reports, they are focusing on signing Gyökeres this summer.

While United technical director Jason Wilcox is keen to land Delap, Amorim is said to want to bring in an experienced goalscorer, and United are said to be one of the only clubs that have taken concrete steps in signing the Swede.

Osimhen is undoubtedly a highly talented striker, but with Gyökeres having extensive experience under Amorim at Sporting in his 3-4-3 system, a move for the player who has scored over 50 goals this season alone is the safer bet.

However, with the club failing to qualify for the Champions League next campaign, they may have to convince the 26-year-old striker to choose Amorim’s side over Arsenal.
