Rúben Amorim outcast agrees deal to leave as Manchester United stand by original demands

One of Rúben Amorim’s outcasts has agreed a deal to leave Manchester United, as the club now makes it clear they will not stray from their original demands.

Rúben Amorim has been ruthless this summer, cutting out players he believes will not be part of the Manchester United rebuild. Making them train on their own and only considering reintergrating them if they can’t find a move away.

Out of the original five Amorim castaways, only Marcus Rashford has left the club, but his solution is only temporary as he has joined Barcelona on a season-long loan for the 2025/26 campaign.

The other four who were banished from the first-team squad – Antony, Alejandro Garnacho, Tyrell Malacia and Jadon Sancho – all remain United players for the time being, but Jason Wilcox will be looking to move them on as quickly as possible.

Malacia and Sancho have been hosts to multiple offers, and at one point appeared to both be set for a move to AS Roma, but negotiations seem to have broken down.

Rasmus Hojlund – who was added to the list of outcasts after the signing of Benjamin Šeško – appears to be closest to leaving Old Trafford, with strong links to multiple Serie A sides in recent weeks.

Real Betis agree deal to sign Antony

Antony – one of Erik ten Hag’s first United signings – spent the second half of last season on loan at Real Betis and appeared to have found his old Ajax form, scoring nine goals and registering five assists in his six-month spell.

Despite receiving offers from several other clubs this summer, reports suggested that Antony always had his heart set on a return to Betis this summer, and he now appears to have got his way.

Mike McGrath of The Telegraph has reported that there is an “agreement in principle for Antony to return to Real Betis, according to Spanish sources.”

The structure of the deal appears to be an initial loan deal with an obligation to buy at the end of the season, although the exact details are yet to be clarified.

It was clear at the beginning of the summer that United wanted to sell Antony, and this is a step in the right direction, showing that the transfer team were unwilling to budge on the initial demands.

United won’t lower Garnacho demands

Finalising a deal to sell Antony, even if United won’t receive any funds until next season, is a big milestone for the transfer team, as selling players has been difficult for the club in recent years.

Despite receiving pushback from Betis and the Brazilian winger, United stuck to their original demands of a full sale. This shows the club won’t back down to pressure from players or agents this summer.

In a World Cup year, every player must get regular game time; therefore, United have the power when it comes to selling Garnacho, Malacia and Antony.

Chelsea have been negotiating for Garnacho for weeks, but have yet to agree a deal with the Red Devils as Wilcox and the transfer team won’t lower their price tag for the Argentine.

Enzo Maresca’s side may expect United to back down and sell Garnacho for a lower fee, but the Antony sale has proven they won’t be bullied in the transfer market. Something they have struggled to deal with since Sir Alex Ferguson’s departure.
