Ruben Amorim should be looking to start a ‘perfect’ star for Manchester United against Everton next week but one of his teammates will be disappointed.
As the November international break wraps up, Ruben Amorim has shifted focus to readying Manchester United for their Monday night clash with Everton.
United sit seventh in the Premier League, level on points with fifth-placed Tottenham, just one behind Sunderland in fourth, and two off Chelsea in third.
Despite a shaky opening to the campaign, the Reds are now five games unbeaten and have suffered only one defeat in their last seven, building momentum as they climb the table.
Everton, meanwhile, are 13th and have recorded two wins, two defeats, and a draw across their last five matches. Their 2–0 loss to Fulham before the break has done little to dent the confidence in David Moyes’ squad as they head to Old Trafford.
Amorim must start ‘perfect’ United star vs Everton
Ahead of the game with Everton, Amorim will be debating how to line up his team in attack with the absence of Benjamin Šeško.
The Slovenian could be injured for up to a month and United will need someone to support Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo in attack.
There are several options for Amorim but the most obvious is to bring Mason Mount back into the side and then move Cunha into the central role.
Mount has been described by Amorim as the ‘perfect’ player for his system and he has already started five games so far this season.
Everton have shown to be an energetic side this term and Mount would bring the quality and physicality needed to get the better of the opposition.
Zirkzee will be disappointed if he doesn’t start
Should Mount start the game, which seems likely, it would be a disappointment for Joshua Zirkzee, who has not been selected in the lineup once this term.
The Dutch striker has been on the fringes of the squad since the attack was revamped in the summer and he will be wondering how things change if he’s not playing when Šeško is injured.

Rumours suggest he is pushing for a January exit and it would be no surprise if those kind of reports heat up again if he does not start against Everton.
But everything suggests that Mount would be trusted over him. He could potentially get some time off the bench to try and make an impact, and he desperately needs to take whatever chance comes his way.
