Rúben Amorim ‘convinces’ Manchester United star to ‘reject Real Madrid’ after four training sessions
According to a Brazilian report, Rúben Amorim has already convinced one Manchester United star to reject a potential offer from Real Madrid.
Rúben Amorim has officially started his role as Manchester United’s head coach, following Erik ten Hag’s dismissal last month.
While his appointment was confirmed just over three weeks ago, a delay caused by a dispute over his release clause at Sporting CP postponed his arrival. With those issues now resolved, the 39-year-old is ready to step into the job.
During the interim period, Ruud van Nistelrooy took charge, securing three wins and a draw. However, despite some improvement, United remain in 12th place in the Premier League and 15th in the Europa League standings.
Amorim oversaw his first training session on Monday morning as he began the task of steering United back on course, and has taken four sessions in total.
Rejecting Real Madrid
United’s poor form over the last 15 months has caused many to wonder if the club’s more experienced or star players would jump ship as they look to secure more stable futures at the peak of their careers.
However, Amorim’s arrival at Old Trafford has turned the tables, breathing new life into the club’s plans and long-term ambitions, with those such as Bruno Fernandes buzzing at the change.
According to Brazilian outlet Trivela, Real Madrid have shown an interest in resigning Casemiro in order to bring experience into midfield and aid the development of Eduardo Camavinga and Aurelien Tchouameni.
However, having trained four times under Rúben Amorim, the Brazilian is “not thinking” about moving back to the La Liga giants two years after United bought him for £60 million.
After working under Amorim, Casemiro is said to be excited and convinced about the new project at United and is focused on returning to form in the Premier League.
Casemiro hits back
Many assumed Casemiro would leave in the summer after a string of dreadful performances left him out of favour with the fans last campaign. However, this season, and particularly in the Elas month, he has seemed a new player.
“Well, everyone can see can’t they? I only had the Liverpool game, right? The whole team was not good in that game,” he explained earlier this month when asked about how he has been playing this season.
“But individually, of course when the goals are missed, of course it ends up hurting the team more, but I think it’s been a good season for me.
“I want to continue growing, I want to continue helping my team-mates and the coach, helping Manchester United grow and well, everyone knows what my job is.”
