Rúben Amorim has accelerated Leny Yoro’s plan in Manchester United starting XI hint
Rúben Amorim has hinted that he may start Leny Yoro against Ipswich Town as he lines up his first-ever Manchester United XI.
Rúben Amorim is preparing to take charge of his first match as Manchester United‘s new head coach, with his team set to face Ipswich Town away from home.
The Premier League clash is scheduled for Sunday afternoon, allowing United’s players maximum recovery time. Thirteen of them featured in international matches during the break, while others focused on returning from injuries.
United are currently 13th in the Premier League, but with Ruud van Nistelrooy having stabilized the team following a challenging spell under Erik ten Hag, there is a renewed sense of optimism among players and fans alike.
Despite their current standing, the club are only four points off Nottingham Forest, who sit 14th but occupy the Champions League qualification spots United are determined to chase.
New plan for Yoro
One player who will undoubtedly have featured prominently is 19-year-old centre-back Leny Yoro. He is yet to make his debut after signing for £52 million in the latest summer window.
Yoro fractured a metatarsal in his foot during a pre-season tie against Arsenal in July and has been undergoing rehabilitation ever since. Since he started training under Amorim, his plan has changed.
The Manchester Evening News has revealed that Yoro was meant to start in the U21s’ 4-0 win over Altrincham in the National League Cup but was withdrawn from the squad following training sessions with Amorim.
Yoro is now fully involved in first-team training following his four-month rehabilitation programme.
Amorim’s starting XI hint
Amorim seemingly made this decision, which is a strong hint as to the status of Leny Yoro, who could be starting against Ipswich Town.
Amorim likes to play three centre-backs in his system, and United only have three fit centre-backs: Yoro, Jonny Evans, and Matthijs de Ligt.
Yoro has been playing on the right side of the side’s back three in training. With Luke Shaw being used as a left-back but likely not fit to play 90 minutes, Amorim may have no choice but to field Yoro from the start.
De Ligt is yet to train under Amorim but is expected to commence his first session with almost his entire squad on Thursday, with all players returning from international duty.
