Ruben Amorim receives huge Manchester United boost ahead of Ipswich Town clash
Ruben Amorim has received a huge boost ahead of his first game as Manchester United’s head coach against Ipswich Town next weekend.
Ruben Amorim officially started his role as Manchester United head coach on Monday, reporting to the Carrington training ground.
He was greeted by prominent figures in the club’s football operations, including Omar Berrada, Jason Wilcox, and Dan Ashworth.
Amorim’s first game will take place next weekend with a Premier League away game against newly promoted Ipswich Town.
While he has some time to settle into his new role, the international break limits his opportunity to work with the full squad.
However, Amorim has received a huge boost after Bruno Fernandes and Diogo Dalot appeared for Portugal this week.
In a 5-1 win against Poland, both United men played 90 minutes, with Fernandes scoring a thunder-strike from outside of the area.
Portugal have another game on Monday evening but Fernandes is unable to play the game after picking up a suspension against Poland due to an accumulation of yellow cards.
While that may be bad news for his country, it is great news for those at Old Trafford, with Fernandes returning to England earlier than expected.
This does not only allow him extra time on the training pitch with United’s new manager, but also affords some important rest ahead of a busy winter period.
United’s captain has hit some impressive form recently, with seven goal contributions in his last five games.
Under Amorim, the 30-year-old is expected to be key and will likely be operating closer to goal in the new 3-4-3 system the manager plans to implement.
The 39-year-old coach will certainly appreciate getting his captain back at Carrington well ahead of his first clash against Ipswich.
