Ruben Amorim has new Man Utd ‘priority’ after first three games, it’s an obvious decision
Ruben Amorim has a new priority at Manchester United after his first three games in charge, and it is an obvious decision to make.
Ruben Amorim has taken charge of three Manchester United games so far, with two wins and one draw.
Amad Diallo has been one of the standout players in those games, with three assists in those games and a Man of the Match display against Everton.
The 22-year-old has heavily impressed the new head coach, who has been using him as a right wingback in his new system so far.
Amorim makes Amad contract a priority
According to the Telegraph, new boss Amorim has made it a priority to reach an agreement with Amad over a new deal at Old Trafford.
Amad’s current contract runs out in June 2025, meaning he would be free to discuss a potential free transfer with European clubs next month.
While the Reds have debated simply activating the optional year in Amad’s current deal, which would keep him at the club until June 2026, they are now pushing forward to reward him with a long-term deal.

The aforementioned report explains that Amad’s contract situation is firmly on the agenda in the next weeks, with his future in sharp focus after impressing in Amorim’s early games.
Fabrizio Romano has since added that United have ‘made progress’ in negotiations with the 22-year-old’s camp and that they aim to have reached an agreement before the end of December.
An obvious decision
It’s quite perplexing that this hasn’t already been agreed on considering the talent levels that Amad possesses.
Amorim making it a priority is a great sign that he plans to use Amad on a consistent basis going forward, with the wide player looking extremely sharp in his first weeks at the club.
He can play as a wingback or as one of the two no.10s in Amorim’s system and has the potential to reach a much higher level than he is already at.
Also, the Ivorian is still on the same deal which he signed when he joined the club from Atalanta in 2021 and simply deserves to get a renewal with how he has played.
He will only be hoping to get more opportunities to impress, and that looks extremely likely under the new head coach.
