Ruben Amorim ‘greatly appreciates’ one Man United star and believes he can turn his fortunes around
Ruben Amorim ‘greatly appreciates’ one Manchester United star and believes that he can turn his fortunates around after a difficult spell.
Manchester United have named Ruben Amorim as their new head coach following Erik ten Hag’s departure from Old Trafford.
Ten Hag, who received a one-year contract extension in the summer, oversaw a difficult season that left United in 14th place in the Premier League and 21st in the Europa League.
This led to his departure on Monday morning, with the club moving quickly to secure Amorim as his successor.
Amorim will manage his first match after the November international break, when United face Ipswich Town.
According to TeamTALK, the new-look United board have emphasised to their new head coach that they expect him to improve the performances of current players at the club.
There are several new signings that we are yet to see the best of but also many other players who failed to hit their best form under Ten Hag in recent months.
Marcus Rashford is one of those players. He scored 30 goals during the Dutchman’s first season but has not reached those same heights since.
The aforementioned report adds that Amorim ‘greatly appreciates’ Rashford’s ability to play in multiple attacking positions, with the manager planning to set-up in a 3-4-3 formation.
The 39-year-old also believes he can improve Rashford’s performances significantly in the short-term and help him regain the confidence he showed during the 2022/23 campaign.
Rashford is ‘very happy’ that Amorim has been appointed, TeamTALK explained, and does not only believe the Portuguese boss will help his own form, but also the entire team’s fortunes.
So far this season, Rashford has made 15 appearances. He has four goals and three assists in that time period.
