Ruben Amorim changes mind on selling one Man Utd star despite being “on close terms” with him

Ruben Amorim has changed his mind on one Manchester United star after spending time in and out of the team this season.

Despite wanting to come at the end of the campaign, Rúben Amorim joined Manchester United in November, taking over from Erik ten Hag and Ruud van Nistelrooy.

The Portuguese boss immediately changed from the 4-2-3-1 formation to his own 3-4-2-1 system, dropping several players to the bench because they didn’t fit the tactics, but he did stick with some decisions made by the previous management team.

Casemiro began the season as the starting holding midfielder, until his abysmal performance against Liverpool at Old Trafford, where he was withdrawn at half time for Toby Collyer, who was making his Premier League debut.

Manuel Ugarte took over from Casemiro when Amorim came in, but in recent months, the Brazilian worked his way back into the side, playing alongside the Uruguayan or Bruno Fernandes.

The former Real Madrid midfielder started the Europa League final against Tottenham Hotspur, but that could be his last appearance in a United shirt.

Amorim ready to move Casemiro on

As per reports from GiveMeSport, Amorim is ready to move on the veteran midfielder, Casemiro, after missing out on European football.

While United’s No.18 was crucial in the comeback against Olympique Lyonnais, assisting Kobbie Mainoo and Harry Maguire, his high wage appears to be too much for the Red Devils to handle, especially with no Champions League revenue next season.

This news comes just days after the Manchester Evening News reported that Casemiro and Amorim were “on close terms” after his impressive turnaround, compared to his early-season form.

Perhaps, the United manager wants to focus on the young talent at Old Trafford next season, rather than keeping older players, who won’t be able to stay for the major rebuild that is so desperately needed.

GiveMeSport also state that Amorim wants to sell Andre Onana, Luke Shaw and Rasmus Hojlund in the summer transfer window, along with Casemiro.

Young United squad for Aston Villa

Despite there being two more games to play in Asia after Sunday, this weekend is the final game of the Premier League and United take on Aston Villa, who are still in the fight for Champions League football.

Amorim will likely name a young squad for Villa’s trip to Old Trafford, with the option to leave out many of the players he doesn’t want in his side next season, replacing them with academy players.

Sekou Kone or Jack Moorhouse could be in line for the first team debut, replacing Casemiro in the squad as United look to end the season with some positive momentum.

Bendito Mantato could also be involved after he dropped out of the under-17s England European Championship squad, unlike Gabriele Biancheri, who is currently training with Craig Bellamy’s Wales squad.
