Manchester United legend Roy Keane has slammed Marcus Rashford for displaying a bad habit of late for the side.

Coming off the back of United’s 2-0 win against Wigan Athletic, Keane stated that he believed Rashford’s teammates should be demanding more from him.

Rashford, who played over ninety minutes in the Red Devils’ win, would pick up an assist for Diogo Dalot’s opening goal but failed to score himself.

It was the winger’s overall inability to consistently threaten the Wigan goal that drew Keane’s ire.

“Man United are playing against a League One side here,” Keane noted. “Marcus [Rashford] must be walking off the pitch [thinking], ‘For all these opportunities, I should be scoring, or certainly providing more assists for some of the players’.”

“It may be a bit harsh, but that’s because we expect a lot from him,” Keane continued. “He should be more explosive, it’s just these little details.”

Keane would also highlight one particular habit of Rashford’s that he believes is costing the attacker.

“He’s got into the habit as well of stopping the ball dead, and that makes it easier to defend,” he stated.

“There were parts of his game tonight that frustrated me, and hopefully they’ll have frustrated his teammates who will now go, ‘Listen, we expect more from you.'”

The forward has been one of several attackers who have struggled for consistency since August, with just nine goal contributions for club and country so far this season.

There has, however, been a recent upturn in Rashford’s form. The Englishman has provided United with either a goal or an assist in each of his last three games.

Following the Red Devils victory against Wigan, United will now go on to face either Eastleigh or Newport County away in the FA Cup fourth round.
