Roy Keane SLAMS Liverpool player who ‘disrespected’ Man United after Premier League draw
Roy Keane was furious with Virgil van Dijk’s post-match comments after Manchester United drew 0-0 against Liverpool at Anfield.
The Premier League clash was dominated by the hosts, but they were able to open a steady United backline despite registering over 30 shots.
Only one of those from Liverpool was considered a ‘big chance’, however. United matched that despite shooting only six times across the game.
After the game, Virgil van Dijk slammed his opponents for their approach to the game and admitted his frustration at Erik ten Hag’s side.
“If you see how we played the game, we had most of the ball and created some opportunities. There was only one team trying to win the game,” he told reporters.
“We want to win every game of course and that is why it is frustrating. Sometimes we shot too easy and could have passed on the overlap. The right decision was sometimes lacking.
“We carry on of course but it is frustrating because we were superior in all aspects. In the end they are buzzing with a point and we are disappointed with a point.”
Following those comments, Sky Sports pundit and former United captain Roy Keane called out the centre-back, claiming that he was ‘disrespectful’ to United and displayed ‘arrogance’.
Keane went onto remind Van Dijk about their record in the Premier League over the last three decades and added that he would always expect a difficult game against Liverpool when he was playing.
“He’s got to remember he’s coming from Liverpool. One league title in 33 years. I’ve gone to Liverpool and been happy with a draw before,” said Keane.
He did [disrespect United]. Maybe Arsenal might come and try to win the game?”
