Real Madrid are reportedly no longer interested in signing one Manchester United star after agreeing a deal worth around £80 million this summer.
Manchester United are poised for a ruthless summer shake-up as Rúben Amorim tears into the squad in his first major move to rebuild the club from the ground up.
With Sir Jim Ratcliffe and INEOS driving the overhaul, United are ready to offload at least ten senior players in a bold attempt to raise funds and wipe the slate clean.
Christian Eriksen, Victor Lindelöf, and Jonny Evans will depart when their contracts expire, while the club are preparing to sell Marcus Rashford, Antony, and Jadon Sancho — deals that could generate well over £100 million.
No one is untouchable. The futures of Casemiro, Kobbie Mainoo, and Alejandro Garnacho are all under the spotlight as United enter one of the most dramatic and defining summers in their recent history.
Real Madrid no longer interest in Dalot
With United looking to raise as much cash as they can this summer, clubs have been circling which stars they think they may be able to pick up for under market value, with the most intense interest from Napoli and Chelsea’s interest in Garnacho.
However, earlier this summer, reports claimed that Real Madrid were lining up a potential bid for United right-back Diogo Dalot as a back-up transfer should they be unable to secure Trent Alexander-Arnold from Liverpool.
In December, it was claimed that those in Spain felt that, although United were firm in rebuffing any approach for the player, United would privately be willing to entertain bids of around £45 million for the Portuguese international.
However, with Alexander-Arnold now secured, Spanish outlet Relevo has confirmed that Real Madrid are no longer interested in signing another right-back this summer. The primary targets are a left-back, a midfielder, and a centre-back.
Therefore, once the season ends, United will no longer need to brace themselves for contact from Madrid regarding a potential transfer for Dalot.
How much are Madrid paying for Alexander-Arnold?
While United are looking to trim their wage budget amid continuing financial issues at Old Trafford, Madrid have forked out a significant amount of cash to secure the English international this summer.
While Liverpool will not receive a fee for the player as his contract expires on 30 June, Madrid will reportedly be paying him a £17 million signing bonus, which will be spread over a number of seasons.
Further to this, Alexander-Arnold will also pocket around £12.6 million a season, with his contract at Real Madrid set to last for five years.
All this totals up to a commitment of around £80 million in funds from Los Blancos for a move that has angered many Liverpool fans. However, United’s faithful may be happy to see the 26-year-old depart as his exit significantly weakens Arne Slot’s Premier League-winning side.
