Rasmus Højlund has started to fire on all cylinders this season at Manchester United, having scored in all of his last five Premier League games.

Much was made of Rasmus Højlund and his failure to score domestically after he went 14 games without a Premier League goal, but since the turn of 2024, he has started to shine among his Manchester United teammates.

Alongside the positive performances of Kobbie Mainoo and Alejandro Garnacho, Højlund has supplied Erik ten Hag with much-needed relief up front, and The Athletic have revealed that this has in part been thanks to the help of Robin van Persie.

According to the report, Højlund recently had a long sitdown with Van Persie, who has been at Carrington to undertake training as a coach, where the legendary Dutch striker has given Højlund advice.

Højlund started the season slowly, which was in part due to the player not taking part in pre-season and missing the first few weeks at United due to a potential stress fracture.

The Athletic’s report explains that Højlund now dedicates “long hours” to his recovery in between games, which has allowed him to keep fit and start almost every single fixture up front.

He has only missed two fixtures since his debut, one due to illness and the other to a hamstring problem, and he is starting to become a much more reliable threat in front of goal.

Højlund has 11 goals across all competitions this season, and may well end the season as the club’s top scorer during his debut campaign as a Red Devil.
