Manchester United striker Rasmus Hojlund was involved in a heated moment with Aston Villa’s Douglas Luiz shortly after Scott McTominay scored United’s winning goal in their 2-1 win.

The incident would occur as Højlund was leaving the pitch following his substitution by Man United boss Erik ten Hag.

As he was leaving the pitch, Højlund was the victim of the Aston Villa fans, with the home side’s crowd jeering the departing Højlund.

Responding to the fans, Højlund would remind the crowd that the scoreline was 2-1 to United.

Villa midfielder Douglas Luiz was unimpressed by Højlund’s interaction, grabbing the United striker’s shirt and gesturing him off the pitch, as a heated exchange took place between the pair.

Højlund had been encouraged by former Manchester United striker Dimitar Berbatov last month to show more aggression.

After Berbatov insisted that Højlund “Must be angry. He needs to be angry,” the Danish striker’s performance against Aston Villa will certainly have impressed the former United frontman.

Luiz, 25, had scored for Villa earlier in the game, tying the game as of the time of his goal. Luiz’s celebration involved him moving his shoulders directly in front of United’s Andre Onana and Raphaël Varane, Varane, whom he had beaten physically in the buildup for the goal.

The moment between Højlund and Luiz was the second such incident of the game, as shortly before it occurred, Manchester United defender Varane also seemed to have a word with Luiz about his celebration of his own goal.
