Raphaël Varane predicts Man United’s next emerging talent after confirming Old Trafford departure
Raphaël Varane has confirmed that he will be leaving Manchester United when his contract expires at the end of the season.
The French defender has spent three seasons at United since his move from Real Madrid in the summer of 2021. He has made 93 appearances for the Old Trafford outfit.
However, the club could not reach an agreement with Varane over a new contract on reduced terms. He is currently on £340,000-a-week.
There will need to be major additions in the defensive line, with the futures of Harry Maguire, Victor Lindelöf and Jonny Evans also in the air.
However, it will be unlikely that INEOS manage to sign more than two centre-backs in the summer transfer window, and so Willy Kambwala will likely continue his role in the first-team squad.
The once injury prone academy starlet has managed to find consistency this season and emerge as a squad option in Erik ten Hag’s side.

Varane, speaking earlier this season, predicted that Kambwala will continue to develop and become an important player at Old Trafford.
Speaking about his fellow Frenchman to club media, Varane said: “He is showing his qualities. I think he will play more matches in the future and continue to improve.
“He is very young, but he is showing his qualities, and we trust him. He has a great future.”
Kambwala played his best game when he started against Liverpool in the 2-2 draw at Old Trafford and has also made several impressive cameos from the bench.
