A Premier League side has given their verdict on letting their ‘clever’ England international leave amid recent links with Manchester United.
Manchester United have had a mixed start to the season, with their recent victory over Enzo Maresca’s Chelsea being the clear highlight of their campaign so far.
Ruben Amorim’s side currently sits 11th in the Premier League after five games, with their next test being a trip to London, where Bryan Mbeumo will be reunited with his former side.
Despite the 2-1 victory over Chelsea, Casemiro was sent off for the Reds, which raises another question regarding the depth of the United midfield and whether it is sufficient.
United were linked with a host of midfielders during the summer transfer window, although none of these rumours came to fruition. Amorim’s side have recently been linked to a new name, with the midfielder’s club giving their stance.
Forest give Anderson exit verdict
Nottingham Forest have endured a difficult start to their 2025/26 campaign, although one shining light for them has been their English midfielder Elliot Anderson.
The 22-year-old, who was branded as ‘clever‘ by Ally McCoist, has been attracting interest due to his recent form, although Nottingham Forest News have revealed how the club feel about Anderson’s future.
As per this source, transfer expert Graeme Bailey has said, “Forest honestly think that Anderson is the best young midfielder in Europe – but he is tied down on a long-term deal and they have absolutely no intention of letting him go.
“Plus, as it stands, Anderson is very happy at Forest – they spent big on him and really gave him his Premier League chance.”
Mainoo’s United future in question
With many rumours linking the likes of Carlos Baleba and Anderson to Old Trafford, it begs the question: What does the future hold for Kobbie Mainoo?
United’s young midfielder was a consistent feature in the England side, although has lost his place recently due to a lack of game-time for United, with Anderson stepping up to the plate instead.

As things stand, Mainoo is fighting with the United captain, Bruno Fernandes, for a starting spot, which feels like a far-fetched dream given the Portuguese midfielder’s consistent availability.
Hopefully, in the near future, United’s 20-year-old can get his chance and showcase what we all know he is capable of, before he potentially moves further down the pecking order as and when United choose to recruit.
