The Premier League have confirmed the match officials who will be leading Manchester United’s away trip against Aston Villa on Sunday afternoon.

United have had a difficult campaign so far this season but are unbeaten in their last five games and have won consecutive Premier League games against Wolves and West Ham.

However, whilst they both were in good form before United played them, Unai Emery’s side pose a different and more difficult challenge.

The Villians are currently fourth in the table after a brilliant campaign so far, but they did lose to Chelsea in the FA Cup last time out and also were defeated by Newcastle last week.

Those games have been two of the three games that Villa have lost at home this season. Villa Park had been a fortress beforehand, particualrly in the league, and will undoubtedly be a difficult place for Erik ten Hag’s side to visit.

If United manage to replicate the result of the tie played at Old Trafford, which ended in a 3-2 win after a late Rasmus Højlund winner, they will sit just five points behind Villa in the table.

The full confirmed match officials list for this game can be read below:

Match Referee

Robert Jones will be the man with the whistle at Villa Park. The 36-year-old referee has taken charge of just two games involving United this season, both being defeats against Newcastle in the cup and league.

He has brandished 64 yellow cards this season and four yellow cards, but it might be a while before he shows one of those blue cards people have been speaking about.

Assistant Referees

Flanking Jones on the afternoon will be Ian Hussin and Richard West who have assisted over 500 Premier League games between them.

Video Assistant Referees (VAR)

The lead operator in the VAR room will be David Coote, with Tim Wood as his assistant on the screens.

Coote was in charge of the VAR when Martin Odegaard tried to play basketball against Liverpool and got away with it. He is perhaps most known for a fake Facebook profile claiming he is a Manchester United fan.

Fourth Official

The man in between Erik ten Hag and Unai Emery will be Tony Harrington.
