Premier League clubs seeking deal for Manchester United outcast ahead of transfer deadline

Tottenham Hotspur, along with several other Premier League sides, are reportedly seeking a deal for one of Manchester United’s outcasts, who is struggling for game time.

Manchester United’s season has managed to improve drastically in recent weeks since the departure of Ruben Amorim, as it has allowed several players a new lease of life.

Michael Carrick has transitioned the Reds back to a more familiar 4-2-3-1 system, which has brought life to the likes of Kobbie Mainoo and Patrick Dorgu.

Despite two wins in a row against the Premier League’s top two sides, it appears that one United star could be set for some transfer drama in the final week of the January window.

Joshua Zirkzee, who has only managed to start four league games so far this campaign, is being sought after by a host of sides, including multiple Premier League outfits.

Zirkzee heading south?

As reported by TEAMtalk, Zirkzee has emerged as a target for a host of clubs, including Tottenham Hotspur, Juventus and Crystal Palace.

The Eagles are seeking a deal for Zirkzee on the basis that their star striker, Jean-Philippe Mateta, could be due for a move to Nottingham Forest this week.

As for spurs, their deal for the Dutch striker will heavily depend on the future of Randal Kolo Muani, whose future is set to play out over the next few days.

With the Reds currently opting for Bryan Mbeumo at the top end of the pitch, this leaves Zirkzee as a third choice option, which may leave his future to hang in the balance.

Carrick opting for Mbeumo instead

As seen in the past two fixtures for the Reds, Mbeumo has spearheaded the United attack as opposed to both Zirkzee and summer signing Benjamin Šeško.

Although Zirkzee has been out through injury, it can be assumed that he wouldn’t have started either of these fixtures, especially considering that first-choice option Šeško was restricted to substitute cameos.

With the Reds only focusing on the Premier League for the remainder of the campaign, allowing their Dutch outcast to leave either on a loan deal or permanently may be best for both parties.

Hopefully, Zirkzee can find a suitable solution to his game time conundrum in the coming days; otherwise, his opportunities for the rest of the season may be limited.
