Player Ratings: Wigan vs Manchester United (FA Cup)
Manchester United won 2-0 away against Wigan Athletic in the FA Cup third round and will face Newport County or Eastleigh.
Diogo Dalot opened the scoring for United but they have had countless chances in front of goal and simply failed to show a clinical nature in the first half.
Scott McTominay and Rasmus Hojlund could’ve each scored a hat-trick in that first-half but neither could finish their chances.
Erik ten Hag’s side eventually scored an important goal in the second half courtesy of Bruno Fernandes from the penalty spot.
The first half player ratings can be viewed below
Andre Onana – 7/10
An important save early on, not much else to deal with.
Aaron Wan-Bissaka – 6/10
A decent display.
Raphael Varane – 6/10
Solid.
Jonny Evans – 5/10
Few sloppy moments early on before a good rest of the game.
Diogo Dalot – 8/10
Brilliant finish. Solid overall.
Kobbie Mainoo – 8/10
Another accomplished performance at the base of United’s midfield.
Scott McTominay – 4/10
Missed way too many chances in the role he was playing. Poor otherwise.
Bruno Fernandes – 7/10
Ran things in the middle and scored the penalty to ensure victory.
Alejandro Garnacho – 8/10
Very sharp on the right again. Brilliant strike on his weak foot smashed the crossbar in the first half, a constant danger in the second half.
Rasmus Hojlund – 4/10
Missed too many chances and not a good enough overall display.
Marcus Rashford – 5/10
Good assist but mostly underwhelming.
