Player Ratings: Luton Town vs Manchester United (Premier League)
Manchester United won 2-1 against Luton Town in their Premier League clash at Kenilworth Road, moving within three points of Tottenham Hotspur.
Rasmus Højlund scored two early goals to put United into what should’ve been a comfortable position.
However, Erik ten Hag’s side never seem to make things easy, and they crumbled once Luton Town scored in the 15th minute up until the half-time whistle.
The second half was filled with chances for United and not small ones. Yet, no one could put the ball in the back of the net.
Thankfully, there was no response at the other end, so United were able to collect three points.
The player ratings so far can be read below.
André Onana – 5/10
Questionable for the goal. Decent otherwise.
Diogo Dalot – 7/10
Important work alongside Garnacho on the right, good runs forward but needed to do better with one chance.
Raphaël Varane – 7.5/10
Some big headers and important interventions. One of United’s best players.
Harry Maguire – 5/10
A solid half up until an absolute clanger which deserved to be punished. Subbed at half-time.
Luke Shaw – 5/10
Nothing special. And it wasn’t too surprising to see him replaced. Clearly wasn’t fully fit.
Casemiro – 4.5/10
Could have easily been sent off after he lost the ball way too easily. No surprise to be replaced at half-time.
Kobbie Mainoo – 7.5/10
Very solid work, and some silky moves have started chances. One of few to keep a calm head under pressure.
Bruno Fernandes – 4/10
Some absolute horror attempts at passes he can usually do in his sleep. Should’ve scored at least one chance. Poor performance.
Alejandro Garnacho – 6/10
Very good defensive work and also his threatening shot ended up being the assist for the second goal. However, needed to be better when sent through on goal in the second half.
Rasmus Højlund – 8/10
A brilliantly taken finish for the opener and a mixture of luck and skill for the second, who knows? When you’re in form, you’re in form. Good first half. Less involved in the second, with United struggling.
Marcus Rashford – 7/10
A very solid performance. Set up numerous chances throughout. Looked sharp on the left.
Subs
Jonny Evans – 7/10
Very good cameo. Calmness in possession was needed.
Scott McTominay – 6.5/10
Not a massive impact in the box but helped in midfield.
