Erik ten Hag reveals difficult Man United selection decision vs Luton Town
Manchester United face Luton Town on Sunday afternoon, and Erik ten Hag has faced having to make a difficult choice in his lineup.
Ten Hag’s side are aiming to make it seven games without a defeat and claw themselves closer to the Premier League’s top four after Tottenham Hotspur dropped points on Saturday.
United can make the gap between them and Spurs just three points if they win and they’d be five points adrift of fourth-placed Villa.
However, Kenilworth Road has proven to be an extremely difficult place to visit this season and will be a major factor if Luton are able to stay up at the end of the season.
The Reds have won their last three league fixtures against Wolves, West Ham and Aston Villa. United scored nine goals across those games with the likes of Rasmus Højlund and Alejandro Garnacho kicking into gear in front of goal.
Luke Shaw has passed a fitness test and starts the clash to allow Ten Hag to name an unchanged lineup from victory at Villa Park.
Meanwhile, Scott McTominay remains on the bench despite another important contribution against Unai Emery’s side, where he scored the winning goal.
“He deserves to play, but I can’t line up 12,” explained Ten Hag ahead of the game. “Definitely, he’s always in my mind during the week. How can we put him in the starting XI so definitely, it’s a hard choice.
“But I think, as you know, he’s very good from the bench. I know what a player will say and he will not like it every time being brought off the bench.”
Man United’s clash against Luton kicks off at 4:30pm (UK time) and will be live on Sky Sports Main Event.
