“I have tried…” – Hannibal Mejbri sent warning by Sevilla boss with Man United decision made
Hannibal Mejbri has played just 36 minutes of football since moving on loan to La Liga club Sevilla from Manchester United in the January transfer window.
Mejbri, 21, left the Old Trafford club on loan in order to find more first-team opportunities. He started just one Premier League game in the first half of the season.
However, with much controversy already since he moved to Spain, the United youngster has found it difficult to find space in the relegation-threatened team.
Hannibal has made just two appearances from the bench since he joined and Sevilla’s manager Quique Sánchez Flores has warned the United loanee that he must offer more than his talent alone in order to break into his team.
“I have tried to explain to him the situation we are in, which is similar to the club where he comes from,” he told reporters last week. “Where sacrifice is above talented virtues.
We are not going anywhere with talent alone; we need organization; I want and desire to play. He has the conditions, but he has to understand all this.”
In his latest appearance, Hannibal played just eight minutes against Real Vallecano. In the following game against Atletico Madrid, he was an unused substitute in the surprise 1-0 win.

Hannibal’s time at the club has been difficult both on and off the pitch, with a reported incident in training also impacting his position.
According to estadiodeportivo, the Spanish club have already ruled out the possibility of exercising the buy-option agreed with Manchester United for the midfielder at this time.
That option is set at around £17 million, which is considered a very high amount by Sevilla, and they would only be open to activating if the loanee stood out extremely well and sales would need to open up space for the move.
Sevilla’s current plan is to let Hannibal return to United at the end of the season unless he does a ‘complete 180 turn’.
