Rasmus Højlund is yet to score a goal in the Premier League for Manchester United, despite netting five in the Champions League this campaign so far.

Rasmus Højlund is the current top scorer of this season’s Champions League, having scored five goals so far in the competition – he is joint with Alvaro Morata.

His finishing touch is clear to see, but so far under Erik ten Hag, he has yet to score one in the Premier League with Manchester United in clear need of goals.

Højlund started for his new club against Luton Town on Saturday afternoon where his side came away from Old Trafford with all three points, Højlund failed to find the net and was substituted with a hamstring problem towards the end of the tie.

Former United midfielder Paul Scholes, speaking to Premier League Productions during half-time of the fixture, has explained that Erik ten Hag and Manchester United need to remain patient for the striker’s first Premier League goal while analysing a first-half chance for the striker.

“He should score, [Rasmus] Hojlund, we know he’s had a bit of a struggle to get going in the Premier League,” he said. “It’s a great ball by Marcus Rashford though, Hojlund should’ve scored but he’s just not getting the luck that he needs at the moment.”

“Man United just need to remain patient, they’re creating chances and once one goal comes then two or three probably should.”

The extent of Hojlund’s injury is not yet known, with Ten Hag explaining after the game that he will not be able to give an indication as to the severity of the injury just yet.

“In this moment I can’t say anything about it, I don’t know,” Ten Hag said. “We did an assessment we have to wait for 24 hours what the conclusion is. Give them the 24 hours to see what’s the problem, if there’s a problem.”
