Patrik Schick’s stance on Manchester United transfer after “contact made” for potential £25m signing

Patrik Schick’s stance on a potential move to Manchester United has been revealed after the club made contact ahead of a potential summer deal.

One of Manchester United’s most pressing concerns in recent seasons — and especially this one — has been the absence of a dependable goal-scoring threat.

Marcus Rashford was the only player to deliver any real consistency in front of goal, netting 30 times during the 2022/23 campaign. But with the England forward expected to depart following his loan stint at Aston Villa, significant questions hang over United’s attacking lineup.

Rasmus Højlund has shown flashes of potential, yet still looks too raw to lead the line on his own, while Joshua Zirkzee has looked more effective operating just behind a traditional centre-forward.

United are reportedly targeting Ipswich Town forward Liam Delap in the summer to bolster their goalscoring department although there are other options being considered.

United make contact for potential Schick transfer

According to a fresh report from Sky Germany reporter Patrick Berger, the Reds are also monitoring the situation of Bayer Leverkusen forward Patrik Schick as a different option for their strike-force.

It was explained that United are looking for a No.9 and prefer to sign a younger player but are also considering the 29-year-old Czech star.

Schick has scored 23 goals for Leverkusen so far this season despite only starting just over half of his 40 appearances.

He would offer a slightly more experienced option for Amorim’s side and the report added that initial contact has been made for a potential deal, but it was added that there is nothing concrete yet.

Schick’s stance on United transfer

In terms of the player’s stance on a potential move, the aforementioned report also stated that Schick’s preference is a move to the Premier League.

He has also been linked with Saudi Pro League clubs but that is “not an option” for a player who still wants to play at the highest level.

United would also only have to cough up around £25 million to sign the ex-RB Leipzig player which is likely a major reason why the club are looking at a potential deal.

In fact, some United fans would suggest that signing both Delap and Schick for a combined £55 million may be smart business from the Old Trafford club but it remains to be seen whether they can commit that level of cash – in terms of transfer fee and wages – for just one position.
