Owen Hargreaves delivers 14-word verdict on Erik ten Hag after Man United’s loss vs Bournemouth
Owen Hargreaves labelled Manchester United’s performance against Bournemouth as ’embarrassing’ after they lost 3-0.
The Reds conceded within five minutes of kick-off before a further two goals came in the second half.
Erik ten Hag’s side were unable to create any clearcut chances, with just three shots on target across the 90 minutes.
Their win against Chelsea on Wednesday gave hope that a corner could be turned but that display against Bournemouth suggested otherwise.
United have now lost seven of their opening 16 Premier League fixtures and face Liverpool at Anfield next. Before that, they host Bayern Munich in their final Champions League group fixture.
Old Trafford began to empty once the scoreline turned 3-0, with little hope of a dramatic turnaround.
Speaking to Premier League Productions, former United midfielder Owen Hargreaves suggested that the supporters have ‘spoken’ amidst the questioning over Ten Hag’s role.
“Listen to the boos, look at all the open seats. The fans have spoken,” he said.
The ex-player made sure to reserve praise for Andoni Iraola’s side, who outshone United on the day.
“You have to praise a team [Bournemouth] that plays the right way with good attacking players,” he added. “They deserve the praise. They played exceptionally today.”
