‘Over a dozen clubs’ want to sign “crazy” Manchester United star this summer as frontrunners become clear

Manchester United have received over a dozen enquiries for one of their young talents as Rúben Amorim looks to clear space in his squad.

Manchester United are still looking to clear space in their ranks in the coming two weeks as Rúben Amorim continues to thin his bloated squad.

With no European football to be played at Old Trafford next season, Amorim is aware that he does not need such an expansive first-team squad, with multiple players still on their books set to depart before the window slams shut in just over two weeks.

Jadon Sancho, Alejandro Garnacho, Antony, and Tyrell Malacia are all headline names expected to depart, with United aiming to raise funds to secure a new midfielder before the end of the window.

However, several Academy players are also likely to depart on loan before the end of the month, as United seek to ensure their young stars receive regular first-team minutes to aid their development.

Collyer being headhunted by Championship clubs

21-year-old Toby Collyer put in some “crazy” cameo performances under Amorim last season, with the English midfielder known to have a fantastic capacity for running and covering ground.

However, with the opportunity for first-team minutes limited amid the lack of European football and the possible signing of Brighton’s Carlos Baleba, the Academy graduate is set to be loaned out for the coming campaign.

According to the Manchester Evening News, over a dozen clubs in the Championship, England’s second-tier professional football league, have inquired about the player’s availability on loan.

While the MEN report that Collyer is taking his time to consider his options and ensure his pending move is the right choice for his career, The Athletic have reported that the player is now in advanced talks to sign for West Bromwich Albion on a season-long loan.

United need to utilise the Championship more

Currently, United do not have any outfield players on loan in the Championship, which seems strange since the league is an almost perfect place for their young stars to learn more about the English game and understand the physical demands the Premier League will require.

United recently loaned Radek Vitek to Championship side Bristol City, with the goalkeeper having a “superb” debut for his temporary side, saving a penalty against Sheffield United amid a 4-1 victory in pre-season.

A few seasons back, Amad spent a campaign on loan with Sunderland in the competition, which was pivotal to his development, and the Ivorian is now an essential part of Amorim’s starting side.

Other players, such as Harry Amass and James Scanlon, are expected to leave the club on loan in the coming weeks, and it may be best if United make sure these are loans to the Championship, which is clearly becoming a hot spot league for the biggest clubs in England to develop their younger talents.
