Omar Berrada released a full statement on Manchester United and Ruben Amorim as seven transfer targets for the club emerged.

Manchester United appointed Ruben Amorim as their new head coach earlier this month after sacking Erik ten Hag.

The 39-year-old’s side drew 1-1 against Ipswich Town in his first game in charge on the weekend but will be looking to show improvement as the season goes on.

Amorim has had minimal time on the training pitch and despite that result, there is a lot of optimism about how the team can develop under his leadership.

Omar Berrada releases statement

United’s chief executive Omar Berrada has spoken about United’s aims to return to the top and praised the appointment of Amorim from Sporting, which he was reported to be key behind.

He said: “The season is now well underway for both our men’s and women’s team, and we are keen to ensure both are as competitive as possible.

“We are delighted to have appointed Ruben Amorim as head coach of our men’s team and remain committed to returning Manchester United to the top of domestic and European football.”

The club’s new chief also addressed the financial situation after the first quarter financial results, which included a profit of £1.3 million, were confirmed and also provided updates on Carrington and Old Trafford.

“Our cost and headcount reductions remain on track, and we are pleased to have seen further commercial traction, and welcome new partner Heineken, through their Tiger brand,” he added.

“Our renovation of the Carrington Training Centre is progressing well, while the Old Trafford Regeneration Task Force continues its work.

“Once it has delivered its recommendations, we will then take some time to digest them and evaluate all our options in the upcoming year.”

Seven Man Utd transfer targets emerge

United are not going to be massive spenders in the upcoming transfer windows as they look to move away from the scatter-gun approach that hasn’t worked in recent years.

However, Amorim will still need changes to the team and upgrades in specific positions in his new system.

While it has only been a matter of weeks, there are a few positions which are beginning to seem like clear priorities to improve on.

According to Sky Germany, the Reds will be looking to improve at left-back and striker in 2025 and seven targets for those positions have already been outlined.

In Amorim’s system, the team plays will wingbacks and they are currently light on the left side due to Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia’s injury issues.

Theo Hernandez of AC Milan, Bournemouth’s Milos Kerkez and Alphonso Davies at Bayern Munich are three of the options being considered for the position.

Meanwhile, the report adds that Randal Kolo Muani, Omar Marmoush, Victor Boniface and Victor Osimhen are four names being considered at United to bolster the frontline.

Rasmus Højlund and Joshua Zirkzee are the current options at no.9, while Marcus Rashford also played there in Amorim’s first game in charge.

However, none of those three have yet to majorly convince that they will be able to be the main man for Amorim in the coming years.
