“Nothing to worry about” – Manchester United fans handed perfect squad update

| Last Updated:

Manchester United fans have been handed a perfect update on André Onana amid fears he may miss the Premier League tie against Everton.

On Friday evening, news surfaced that Manchester United‘s André Onana had suffered a potentially significant injury while on international duty after he was helped off the field by medical staff during Cameroon’s 3-0 win over Mauritius.

It was then confirmed on Sunday morning that Onana had withdrawn from the Cameroon national set-up due to the injury, and was due to fly back to Manchester in order to undergo further medical tests before Erik ten Hag was to be handed any definitive news.

Many have since predicted that Altay Bayındır may have to make his debut for the club amid the idea that Onana would not be able to start against Everton on Sunday, but as the game draws closer, more positive news surrounding the no. 24 emerges.

According to Fabrizio Romano, André Onana’s injury is not anything serious. Romano explained to The United Stand that Onana could be available for the Everton fixture but that this is not a certainty – but generally, the problem “isn’t anything to worry about”.

Meanwhile, Rasmus Højlund is expected to undergo monitoring this week to see if he is fit to play. Both he and Christian Eriksen had to be substituted due to injury against Luton nine days ago, but the Danish striker may be passed fit to play against Everton if rehabilitation goes smoothly this week.

Eriksen is expected to be out for another two or three weeks after both players pulled out of Denmark’s recent international fixtures.
