The Cameroon FA have confirmed in a press release that Andrè Onana has suffered an injury to his pubis, one of the three main bones that make up the pelvis.

Andrè Onana was helped off injured by medical staff during Cameroon’s 3-0 win over Mauritius on Friday evening, sending injury worries to Manchester United.

Onana has been a key figure for Erik ten Hag after signing in the summer to replace David de Gea in goal at Old Trafford, but the player has now been added to the long list of those potentially unavailable in the Dutchman’s squad due to injury.

Although the initial prognosis stated that Onana’s injury might not be that bad, a press statement from the Cameroon FA has confirmed that Onana will not be in their upcoming squad to face Libya.

Although the statement does not confirm how long Onana will be out, this news is expected to come in the coming days.

Transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano claimed on Saturday that Onana should not be out for more than a week, but this claim also stated that it was an injury to his shoulder, rather than his hip.

Andrè Onana is now expected to leave the Cameroon national team set up and return to Manchester, where he will undergo further testing on his injury to examine its extent.

Should Onana be unavailable for the foreseeable future, this would mean Altay Bayındır will make his debut for Manchester United after signing in the summer for a fee of £4.3 million.
