Newcastle United are looking to steal Manchester United’s January striker target from under Erik ten Hag’s nose.

Manchester United are having problems all over the pitch this season, with the defensive issues being coupled with a lack of goals up front leading Erik ten Hag‘s men to be seventh in the Premier League and all but knocked out of the Champions League.

It’s been a dire season for goals for the Reds, and they have turned to the January transfer window to try and end these woes, with Sir Jim Ratcliffe setting a price for Jean-Clare Todibo in defence.

United are also looking at the possible transfer of Serhou Guirassy from Bundesliga Stuttgart in January, with the player having a £15 million release clause.

However, according to German transfer guru Christian Falk, United are not the only team looking to secure his services, with Newcastle United ramping up their interest in a bid to beat United to Guirassy’s signature.

The 27-year-old has 17 goals in 12 appearances across all competitions this season, more than Erling Haaland or Kylian Mbappe, and could add experience alongside the young Rasmus Højlund.

Guirassy is reportedly “flattered” by the interest of United, although his future is undecided as he continues to score goals.

United will next face Chelsea in the Premier League on Wednesday evening at Old Trafford.
